"Be My Neighbor Day" looks a bit different this year. Typically neighbors are invited to attend an in person event filled with caring activities that support the community and get to meet Daniel Tiger. This year, however, with the help of volunteers, the event has gone virtual!
There were many things to do to prepare for this year's event: activity bags needed stuffed, tie blankets needed to be made for people (and pups!), neighborly notes were written, activity bags were delivered to various sites for children and sewing projects were completed.
WFYI volunteers answered the call to help add a personal touch to this year's event despite not being able to gather in person. The caring activities that are typically done in person were also completed remotely by volunteers. We are appreciative for all of the support volunteers gave to help make this event a success. Check out the photos below to see neighborly volunteers in action!
This year "Be My Neighbor Day" invites families to participate in volunteer activities that aid neighbors in need. WFYI is celebrating all week long beginning August 24, by airing neighbor-focused episodes of "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood." Click

This give back is typically done at the in person event and we are glad to continue to do it virtually. Lip balm can be mailed to WFYI (address below) by 8/31. If you'd like to drop off lip balm please email Lauren Makin at lmakin@wfyi.org to coordinate a time.
Lip balms can be mailed to:
WFYI Public Media

As a thank you for giving back we will be holding a drawing for two Mr. Rogers mugs to anyone that donates lip balm. The drawing for the mugs will be held on 9/1 and the winners will be contacted via email.

Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped prepare for Be My Neighbor Day!
