Juneteenth Celebration at Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center

Expired

Description

Commemorate Juneteenth with WFYI’s Community Engagement team at the Juneteenth Celebration and Grand Reopening of the Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center in the Crooked Creek area of Indianapolis.

WFYI will host a table on Juneteenth, the day that marks the emancipation of enslaved black Americans in Texas in 1865. To learn more about Juneteenth, see this 2020 article by Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Jeanie Lindsay, and information from the National Museum of African American History and Culture about the historical legacy of Juneteenth

Help us host a table by greeting community members, inviting attendees to write responses to a question related to a potential news story, and preparing giveaway items for distribution. Volunteers can co-host a table with a WFYI staff member at the Glick Neighborhood Center from 11 am-2 pm or 2-5 pm.

Please note, WFYI will rely on the guidelines laid out by the CDC on social distancing and mask requirements. Currently, the City of Indianapolis requires non-vaccinated people to continue to wear a mask. WFYI will defer to the venue’s preference on masks for those that are vaccinated.
